One For the Boys
by Sue McRae

Sue here today with a masculine card. I don't know about you but I have a hard time making cards for the guys, especially when the guy in question is a teenager having a birthday.

I tend to go for darker colours and minimal embellishments for a masculine card and definitely no florals! So I played it safe and went with dies that I consider to be a birthday card staple: balloons, stars and a banner.

I decided to grab a bunch Alcohol Inks and colour glossy card stock  to use for all my die cutting. It's a subtle way to add texture and visual interest to die cuts.

Since all the die cuts were so colourful I used gray card stock for my background and added that to a black card base and I finished off with silver thread for the balloon strings.

Thank you so much for dropping by today!

Sue, I think this stupendously awesome for a teenage boy. Love the background color and all those colorful dies look so cool against the dark gray!!! Well done!!

thank you for a new idea to try with alcohol inks as I have a number of teen nephews and it is a challenge coming up with ideas for them. I think this will be a hit! thanks for being so generous in sharing your creativity!

I agree teen cards are hard but you did a fantastic job with this!

I can definitely relate to the masculine cards and teenager masculine cards...only other ones harder for me are sympathy cards. When my two grandsons were small, cards for them were easy, but now that they are grown up, I struggle. Thanks for your ideas and a great card.

Awesome card, love the distress watercoloring for the balloons, good idea! TFS!

Love the colour combination, very vibrant, fun and the balloons definitely finishes it off! Great inspiration.

FUN card :)
LOVE the banner & balloons!!!

Fabulous card! Bought the banner a while ago - thanks for giving me an idea on how to use it!

Such a happy and colorful card :)
