Layered Vellum Butterfly
Hi, Sue here with a butterfly card that's made up of 10 layers of inky vellum.
It's been such a long and cold winter where I am that I just had to play with bright colours so I pulled out my Alcohol Inks and vellum and went colour crazy.
I die cut the Princess Butterfly out of each vellum layer and arranged them in rainbow order.
The butterflies were adhered just on the body so that the wings could be fluffed up and all the coloured layers clearly visible.
For the background I inked white card stock with Distress Ink. Then I took the Fantasy Flowers Stencil and sprayed the back of the stencil with a Perfect Pearl mist and carefully put the wet side of the stencil down on the inked background. I placed a piece of paper towel over the stencil to blot and lifted the stencil off the inked paper. The pearl water that was on the stencil removed some of the ink and left a pretty shimmery flowered background.
To finish off the card I added a sentiment and a few sequins.
Thanks for visiting today!

Amazing!! So beautiful background!!!
Gorgeous card! I am waiting for my princess butterfly to arrive. Thank you for the tutorial for colouring vellum. I haven't had good experience with colouring it in the past, now I know to use my alcohol inks. I have tried watercolours, the vellum puckered. The layered butterflies are fantastic, also the stenciled background. Love this card and all the colourful, artistic details!
