Happy Birthday To You!

It's blog blitz time, and that could mean a happy dance for one lucky person.  More about that in a minute.  I need birthday cards.  Seems I'm always behind in that catagory.  I have a sister-in-law who has a birthday in February.  I thought maybe I should get a jump start on making this card.  I love yellow, can you tell?  I also love, love love using back ground dies.  I wanted to make a card that I could put into a #10 envelope (you know the standard envelope used for our most favorite thing...sending off checks.).  So that said, I also wanted to use a scrap piece of yellow, and it was only 8 inches wide.  So my folded card base is 8 x 4.  A bit smaller than the #10 envelope.

I cut the Corrina Background  and when I went to add it to the white 8 x 4 inch base, I said, oh, oh.  The die is actually 4 1/4 ......so, because the Poppystamp backgrounds are so well planned, I knew I could alter the size so I cut about an inch from the long edge, die cut another Corrina Background and lined it up over the orginally cut background and glued the pieces together.  If you look closely at the card, at the bottom left side of the Corrina die you can see where I joined them.  I'm happy!

I really love the new Fancy Happy Birthday die.  It makes a real statement.  If you wanted a quick card this die on a quarter fold card with a bit of bling, would be perfect.  I used the new Style dies, Shaker Rectangle Frames and Studio Rectangle Layers.  Just because it says shaker, doesn't mean it has to be.  It is the perfect frame for the calendar page I cut using the Studio Rectangle Layers.  On December 28th I posted a mini-calendar.  I used that pdf to create the month for this card.

I highlighted the date of her birthday with scraps that fell from the cut die  and  added a bit of twine and some sequins and the outside of this card is finished.  I think it's pretty and it's not going to break the bank sending this card.

Now for the inside:

PS - 1-17-2015-Inside

I like to finish insides by repeating some of the details of the outside.  So, this time I cut the Corrina Die in black and trimmed it to fit the layers of yellow and black.  And the yellow bit is a row that was left from the Corrina Die I used on the front of the card.  A bit of sequins and some layers leaving room for a sentiment and this card is ready to mail.  I think I will make this card again.  I just have to decide what will be my next color choice.  Red maybe?

Ok, remember way back at the beginning I said someone could be very lucky. I've chosen the Fancy Happy Birthday Die and you could win!  So here's what you need to do....leave a comment by January 31st.  Could it be any easier?  Now, go back to January 12th and leave a comment on any of the dies you'd like to have a chance to win.  For me, that would be ALL of them.  Check on February 2nd to see if you've won.  This release is SPECTACULAR!

Have a most special week.  I hope it's filled with many crafty moments.

I love the way you have used the Happy Birthday die. It looks really useful.

Must try this. Too often we over use our ideas when simplicity speaks louder.
