You're A Star!
by Sue McRae

Welcome crafters, Sue here with a card today!

P1340981c

I have a hard time making cards for the guys or for teenagers. Feminine card just seem easier to create so I decided to put away the flowers dies and stamps and not let myself use any glitter or any pink or purple and this is what I came up with.

I started off with a piece of water color paper, sprayed it with water, sprinkled on Color Bursts and just let the pigment do its thing. While this was drying I die cut a bunch of stars from dark grey card stock using the Scribble Trio set. This die set has three fun shapes: a star, square and circle. I adhered the stars all over the dried background.

For the sentiment I took the Spectacular Happy Birthday set (which consists of three dies) and die cut the bottom layer in a medium grey, the middle layer in dark grey and the sentiment in white. The sentiment is made from 4 layers of the white card stock for a thick chipboard look.

To finish off I added a few small stars die cut with the Superstar Sash.

Thanks for visiting us today!

Happy Birthday
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here today; and I'm so excited to be back, sharing a project, showcasing more of what our January 2017 Release has to offer!  This one made it to my brother-in-law, for his birthday, late last week.  Enjoy!

Poppy Happy Birthday - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by watercoloring a piece of watercolor paper in various shades of green.  I then speckled it with those same watercolors, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints, before using the Happy Birthday Tag craft die to remove its center.  I then went back and filled in a portion of that center with a separate, Basic Black, cardstock, Happy Birthday Tag die cut.  The entire piece was then backed with a sheet of clear cardstock to create the window, which was filled in with a variety of sequins, seed beads, and a number of cardstock, Tiny Feathers die cuts.

For the back of the window, I used a plain piece of white cardstock so as not to compete with everything else that was already going on.  Black-threaded, straight, machine stitching secures all the layers together.  The entire piece was then popped off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face with foam tape and dressed up with a double, white, seam binding ribbon bow, embellished with a black, gingham bow, as well as a black button, laced with teal twine, tied in a bow.

Thanks, as always, for humbling us with a visit!  Have a blessed last day of January, and we'll see you next month!  Hugs!

Christmas tree
by Ilona Zbieg

IMG_3727

Welcome in my second inspiration today.

Every designer nightmare - make Christmas cards in July few days before summer holidays. I was expecting that it will be easy ... but result is actually really nice.

I decided to make card with use of 1620 We Wish You a Merry Christmas craft die.  White card background (green) is again my favourite water paint. It gives you a possibility to avoid plain green color. The star and ball is obviously cut out from the same die. And to add some more Christmas feeling to it I added a white twine with  that nice looking crystal.

Cards are technically more less the same - the only difference is that brown one have snow made with white paint splahes and on white one I used texture paste, glitter and stencils.

There is a little elephant in the center of the card and then a sash underneath with thosw beatiful stars motive. There are more stars on the card which were cut out of the sash. Some of them are actually created with stencil.

There is also yellow paper used underneath to make it fresher andf lighter.

Celebrate
by Lezlye Lauterbach

Welcome to the Poppystamps blog! Today is my Mother's 78th Birthday! SO I made her this card using Pippystamps Dies and a memory box stencil.

Celebratepoppy

It's so much fun to use a stencil and white ink on a dark cardstock, very eye popping and creating your own back ground! I layered blue and whit sentiments for a shadowed effect.

All the balloons were cut out and layered with foam tape for dimension with foam squares. Strings were glued behind each balloon. A different idea would be to tie the strings on each balloon end. I  trimmed the tops of the balloons that were hanging over the card edge.
