Clean and Simple Holiday Cards with Non Traditional Color Combos
by Rebecca Keppel

Rebecca keppel poppystamps clean and simple cards with non traditional color combos cards 1

You don't need a ton of product to create a set of clean and simple holiday cards! I used the smaller stamp sets Merry Everything and Tidings of Joy that each include a coordinating sentiment die, some cardstock and a few colors of ink to create 4 clean and simple holiday cards.

Of course I love traditional Christmas colors, but when I am making lots and lots of cards, using the same couple of colors gets a bit boring.

So, for this card set I tried out some non traditional holiday color combinations. I love the look!

Plus, I love how easy it is to mass produce these clean and simple cards! A set of these would make a great hostess gift for a dinner party in November!

Do like thinking outside the box for color combinations during the holidays or are you a traditionalist?

Stacked Die Cut Holiday Shaker Card
by Rebecca Keppel

There are so many ways to make shaker cards. The entire card front can be a shaker window or you can create a shaker element on your card. I chose to do the latter for this ornament shaker.

You can use foam to create the dimension of the shaker, but if you don't have any foam, you can absolutely stack up cardstock die cuts to create the shaker element instead.

A shaker element is perfect for holiday cards and this one is clean and simple enough to be recreated a bunch of times to have a stack of very special holiday cards ready to go!

Sometimes the summer doldrums are the perfect times to start on those Christmas cards since we are in the second half of the year! I used the Poinsettia Delight stamp set and Distress Oxide Inks to create a Kraft Christmas card.

Make a Splash Challenge Reminder
by Rebecca Keppel

Hi Poppystamps fans! Are you working on your monthly challenge? This month's challenge is Make a Splash! I immediately thought about using the Large Lovely Koi die for my take on the challenge.

I used Distress Oxide Inks to blend several colors together on smoother cardstock and cut out a bunch of the koi. Then I created a watercolor background with several shades of Blue Distress Oxide Ink. Finally, I used a direct ink pad to paper technique to color the Stitchwork Rectangle frame.

If you would like to see all three Distress Oxide techniques and how I put this card together, check out the video here:

This set includes a card panel die AND a coordinating stencil. I thought it would be fun to come up with a few different ways to use the two together.

Rebecca keppel poppystamps winter blog blitz 2018 (3 of 5)

You could use white pigment ink over color cardstock, or try out Distress Resist Spray and Distress Oxide Inks, or you could try foiling the snowflakes for a totally different look! I walk you through all three techniques in this video:

Sparkly Negative Spaces
by Rebecca Keppel

Rebecca keppel poppystamps winged bird die card 1

I love backing a negative space with a fun contrasting color like I did with the deep teal cardstock on the Winged Bird Die cut out of the dark grey. But I wanted to make the birds wings even more special. So, I filled them with a clear liquid adhesive and then added tiny star sequins. The liquid adhesive dries clear and dimensional, so any parts of the wing not covered by stars are still special.

Check out this quick video to see how I quickly pulled this card together!

How do you like to use negative die cut spaces? Die cut inlay? Making shaker cards? I'd love to hear! Thanks for stopping by!

Nested Dies Two Ways
by Rebecca Keppel

Rebecca keppel poppystamps nested dies 2 ways card 1

I love nested dies because they offer so many options, but I understand that they are expensive. So, I think it is always a bonus when you can come up with lots of out of the box ways to use these dies.

Rebecca keppel poppystamps nested dies 2 ways card 3

The NEW Stitchwork Frames dies are so fun because they create embossed stitch lines and tiny holes along the frame AND cut out the center shape as well. I used a couple of the circle dies to create a pattern on card panel and then layered up several of the squares and rotated the shape on the card front to create a diamond.

Rebecca keppel poppystamps nested dies 2 ways card 5

These techniques are especially fun when you have vibrant colors of cardstock to work with.

If you would like to see the creation of both cards check out this video:

How do you like to get more bang for your buck from your nested dies? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Blog Blitz! Large Lovely Koi
by Rebecca Keppel

Rebecca keppel poppystamps Large Lovely Koi Copic Colored Die Cuts card 1

Welcome back to another day of the summer Blog Blitz! Today you will have a chance to win the Large Lovely Koi die if you comment down below!

Rebecca keppel poppystamps Large Lovely Koi Copic Colored Die Cuts card 4

I cut the Large Lovely Koi die from smooth, white cardstock and then colored it with several colors of Copic markers. If you don't have Copics, you could use any markers that blend well. The idea is just to turn your white cardstock die cuts into colorful images with depth and dimension without doing any stamping!

Rebecca keppel poppystamps Large Lovely Koi Copic Colored Die Cuts card 3

I used the same technique with the Folksy sentiment dies and love the gradient look you can achieve by using markers that blend over a die cut sentiment.

If you want to see how I put all three of these cards together and colored the die cuts, be sure to check out my video here:

And don't forget to comment down below for your chance to win the Large Lovely Koi die, which goes well with just about any sentiment, don't you think?

Alcohol Inked Stitched Butterflies
by Rebecca Keppel

Rebecca keppel poppystamps alcohol ink stitched butterfly trio 1

Summer is in full swing in my neck of the woods! Kids are out of school and the temperatures are rising! Which means it is the perfect time to play with colors and dies! I wanted to create some really fun butterflies using alcohol inks and the Poppystamps Stitched Butterfly Trio.

Rebecca keppel poppystamps alcohol ink stitched butterfly trio 3

I created two panels of alcohol inks using two different color schemes. I kept the colors bright and vibrant, but used plenty of alcohol ink Blending Solution to move the colors around.

Rebecca keppel poppystamps alcohol ink butterflies (3 of 5)

Once the alcohol ink panels were dry (which did not take long at all considering how much liquid I used!!) I ran them through my die cut machine with the Stitched Butterfly Trio dies.

Rebecca keppel poppystamps alcohol ink stitched butterfly trio 2

I love the way the embossed detail from the dies removes some of the color making the stitching look lighter!
