Koi Tags
by Olga

Hi crafty friends, I hope you are having a great week!

Today I have made a trio of tags combining alcohol inks and die cutting techniques. To start with I have created alcohol ink backgrounds on Yupo paper and since I'm not experienced with this type of inks I only used one color (slate) for all three backgrounds. Unexpectedly, as the ink was drying more colors developed like some shades of teal and purple - that was actually perfect for me as I was going for a watery look.

To tell you the truth, I was not particularly happy with the outcome and thought that those backgrounds themselves were not enough to make a project fabulous. But throwing them away was not an option too so how could I make them work for me? The answer is simple - die cutting! Die cutting is always a good idea so I added a negative pattern created with the collage die and it instantly brought everything together!

To create focal images I used Lovely Koi die with some foiled cardstocks plus added silver embossed sentiment strips and some sequins - and my tags were finally brought to life!

Watch the beginning to end video tutorial for more detailed instructions!

Trifold Shaker Card
by Olga

I was thinking of a way to create a layered card without mounting the die cut layers one on top of another and I came up with this idea of making a trifold card.

This way the structure of a card base creates layers all by itself, I just had to add some complexity by using dies that cut negative spaces, by making one tab shorter than others and by adding dimensional shaker element to the front. There is also one image added to the inside of the card.

Watch the video tutorial below to see exactly how this card was created!

Phone Booth Gift Wrapping Ideas
by Olga

Are you participating to this month's challenge? To enter it you just have to create any framed project and use at least one Poppystamps product.

04-18 copy

The project I have created is a phone booth themed gift wrapping. I have added some stamping to kraft paper to make the wrapping match the phone booth tag.

For the tag itself I have decided to introduce a number of different textures - heat embossed background, some cork for the frame as well as some  crackle glaze on a booth itself. As a finishing touch I have added some bronze gears.

There are lots of phone booth souvenirs out there - I have created this particular wrapping to package a phonebooth piggy bank. This type of packaging will also do great for cell phones.

Framed 2

The whole creative process is revealed in a video tutorial below. Enjoy watching!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to join in the challenge for a chance to win $20 certificate to Poppystamps online store!

Rose and Pearls
by Olga

The project I am sharing today is an almost one layer and nearly one color card. Although the design is quite simple I have jazzed it up with some fun techniques.

The large circle border layer I used is actually meant to work with another border die that serves as a bottom layer for it. But instead I decided to attach some pearls to the inside of the card so that each circle becomes a little window for a pearl.

I have also used a punch tool to create more tiny circle windows - I scattered them around the card front and attached more pearls behind them.

Hello paper crafters!

Today I have an unusual card to showcase - what makes it special is that it is a double layer shaker card. One shaker window is actually positioned right above the other one.

I have used several dies from Poppystamps January release to create this underwater scene.

Below are some close up pictures as well as the beginning to end video tutorial!

Aquarium Card
by Olga Direktorenko

Hi, Olga here, thanks for stopping by!

The project I am showcasing today is a shaker card. The idea and performance is really simple, it's the choice of materials that makes it interesting - I used some real sea shells to fill in the shaker and natural cork sheet to create a frame. The goldfish is cut out of shiny mirror cardstock and the whole thing is accentuated by the dimensional clear droplets.

This card is also a bit smaller than the regular one and measures 3 1/4'' x 4 1/5''.

Please scroll down for some close up photos as well as the step by step VIDEO tutorial!

Blog Blitz featuring Lovely Teapot
by Olga Direktorenko

Hi everyone!

It's the last day of the Blog Blitz and the die that I am giving away is Lovely Teapot.

This time I have created a set of miniature tags for St. Valentine's Day  - they can be attached to gifts or used on cards.

Valentine Mini Tags 1

I have used Little Taglet and Bow craft die to create a base for all three tags. I'll just be adding different focal images to make each tag unique. The first tag is decorated with Lovely Teapot and Little Heart Banner die cuts.

Valentine Mini Tags 2

For the second one I have used Embossed Heart Taglet. I have also added a Little Heart Banner cut out of gold mirror cardstock - this little detail is the same for all three tags.

Valentine Mini Tags 3

The last tag is actually a mini scene - a rope walker walking on a string of hearts. It is made with Playful Mini Faeries and again the Little Heart Banner. The ribbon bow and flower are also the same for all three tags.

Blog Blitz featuring Tall Ship
by Olga Direktorenko

Hi there!

It's time for another post of the Blog Blitz and one more die to win! This time it is the Tall Ship from the January Release by Poppystamps.

Loveship 1

I have used this die to create a focal image for this card and combined it with some other Poppy dies. Die cutting is what this card is all about. The only materials I used are some white and cream cardstock, a piece of vellum, Spun Sugar Distress Ink and some liquid glue. It's all it takes!
