Sewing in the Snow
by Jennifer Svare

Sewing8_Watermark

Hello!  This card was "sew" much fun to make!  The unique background sprang from mixing the Sew Fond of You clear stamp set and die with the Stitched Alpine Snowflake set. I wanted a cheerful, bright wintery card that matched the sewing theme. How about an embroidery floss background that looks like colorful scribbles in the snow?

Laying the strings where they landed on top of double-sided adhesive and then adding Flower Soft snow to fill in the gaps was the perfect solution. The texture is sturdy and has a very unique feel and look to it. It sparkles just like snow. I loved how this turned out, and it was not only easy and fast, but FUN!

A ric-rac string was cut from the Ric Rac Stitches set, and the largest snowflake from the Stitched Alpine Snowflakes set was placed as the base to a button with a tulle bow.

Holiday Blog Blitz - Magical Christmas
by Robin Tharaldson

PS Aug 5A Blitz 630

Hi everyone! This is my first post for Poppystamps and I am thrilled to have been asked to join their talented design team!  AND I get to start with their Holiday 2017 release, how fun is that? The Holiday 2017 Blog Blitz continues through August 17 and is filled with creative ideas! Poppystamps will be giving away a prize, each day of the Blog Blitz, so be sure to leave a comment.  Winners will be announced August 18, good luck!!!

My double fold card features the Open Hillside, Sloping Hillside and Snowscape dies along with the word dies "believe" and "magic". The card base was made using 12" x 12" cardstock cut to 5 1/2" x 12" and scored at 4" from each end.

I cut the first panel with the Open Hillside die.

PS Aug 5B Blitz 630

My next panel uses the Sloping Hillside die.

PS Aug 5c Blitz 630

The center panel snowfall was made using the Snowscape die and dark blue cardstock. I used the Do You Believe stamp set to add my sentiments and the star, from the same set, was heat embossed using silver embossing powder.

PS Aug 5D Blitz 630

I cut the words believe and magic from glitter cardstock. To add dimension, the words were also cut 2x each from white cardstock, glued and layered together along with the glitter words. To finish my card I added Stampendous Crystal Snow to the trees and hillside.

PS Aug 5E Blitz 630

I hope this card has given you inspiration for your holiday cards or projects! I better get going on my cards, Christmas will be here before I know what happened!!! Be sure to leave a comment by August 17 for your chance to win the Sloping Hillside die used in today's post!!!

Happy News!

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  We have lots of great news to announce on the blog today!  First I want to introduce you to our newest design team member - Jinny Newlin!  We think you're going to love Jinny's style!  Here's a little bit more about her in her own words!

Jinny Newlin

My family and I live in a small suburb of Kansas City, Kansas, just over an hour and a half north of where I grew up.  I am a former kindergarten teacher turned adoring wife, of 15 years, to BJ and stay-at-home, homeschool mom to Ezekiel (13), Adina (7) , and Kaden (2).  When I'm not taking care of or playing with my family, you can find me cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, taking pictures, blogging at Soaring, and of course, paper crafting.  My love for the latter started, over fourteen years ago, at a Stampin' Up! workshop: but I have been creating with any and every form of crafting media, that I could get my hands on, since I was old enough to hold a crayon.  I've been honored to have had a number of published works of art, as well as to get to design for some of my most favorite manufacturers and challenge blogs, and am just thrilled to have the privilege of joining Poppystamps Design Team!  I hope that I can inspire you all to get creating!

I hope you'll give Jinny a warm welcome!
