by Nancy Penir

DSC_0029

Poppy's having a Holiday Blog Blitz, and we have a couple of dies that you could win! Just leave a comment at the end of this

post, and you could win these adorable gingerbread boy and girl!

DSC_0023

Each of these cuties comes with the body form and it's corresponding outfit. All set for you to decorate your gingerbread boy or girl. I cut mine from cork, which kinda reminded me of gingerbread. Also cut the cottage from cork.

Shiny Snowflakes are another set I used for this card, and cut all 3 sizes from plain white cardstock.

Sparkle
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0025

Hi there! Are you ready to get creative this weekend?

I love the look of sparkle this time of year, and have some tips to help your cards have some extra sparkle and shine using Poppy dies.

DSC_0019

First get all your elements cut and ready. I used some frosty blues, whites and silver shimmer cardstock for my card.

DSC_0020

With Crystal Ornaments die, I embossed and re-embossed my die cut several times with Stampendous Winter Wonderland.

Tip: Emboss once, and while still hot, press image into your powder, heat setting it again. I did this 4 times.

DSC_0029 2

Poppy has a series of different sized ovals called Pointed Oval Frames, that actually give you a trio of options with your cut.

I used  the 2nd smallest  to create a window for my holiday shaker.

Tip: When cutting 2 layers, place die over the 2 cardstocks, taped together, to get them perfectly aligned. Even if they don't cut all the through the bottom layer, the image is indented for perfect placement on your 2nd run through.

DSC_0027

I'm so excited to see sequin mixes in the Birchpress Design shop. This set is called Festival of Lights. Just look at all the shapes, colors and sizes you get in one package.

DSC_0023

Hope I gave you some inspiration for your holiday cards.

Enjoy your weekend, and happy crafting!

Challenge Reminder: Masquerade
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0011

Hello, Poppy Friends! Nancy here, reminding you there's a challenge going on and we'd love to see what you do.

Here's some inspiration for our theme this month, 'Masquerade'.

DSC_0008

I just can't get enough of these adorable cats, in their Halloween costumes.

DSC_0021

Everything for my card was stamped first and then die cut. The dies make it easy to align the images perfectly. A little washi tape holds the image in place while you run it through the die cut machine.

DSC_0019

Here's where the masquerade magic happens. I die cut the Creepy Forest Collage out of vellum card stock and lightly sprayed the back with repositionable spray mount. Securing the die cut on black cardstock, I then sponge inked the window cut with my white ink.

DSC_0012

I went especially heavy around the middle branch, creating a foggy moon.

Then I stamped the bats in black. The sentiment, also from Halloween Costume Cats, was white embossed. When I was happy with my placement of the costumed cats and pumpkins, they were glued down.

I hope you'll give the challenge a try. There's always gc for the winner, and we all love seeing your posts!

Happy crafting, and Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0035

Greetings Poppystamps fans. Nancy here with a Halloween card using the new Witch Collage die.

Here's a look at the dies I used

DSC_0045

Just 2, the Witch Collage and Petit Four Stitched Borders. And here's the card.

DSC_0037

I die the image 3 times, leaving room at the bottom for my embossed sentiment from Halloween Costume Cats.

There's a bit of decoration in the upper left hand corner done with an old embossing folder, The top black die cut piece is

lifted off the bright green with foam, casting a perfectly fun spooky feel. The border adds a little glam with it's orange glitter,

and the piece is finished with sequins.

DSC_0032

Have you finished all your Halloween cards? With 11 grandchildren, all the holidays keep me busy!

Hope you enjoyed the post today. Happy Crafting!

10-17 copyPSC#37 Masquerade - Our challenge is a play on words this time..  A "Masquerade" is defined as a false show or pretense.  Halloween is a time when we dress up in costumes and pretend to be the characters we dress up as.  Many times this involves a "Mask" to conceal our identities.   We want you to create a project using a mask.  Masking is very popular in stamping - covering previously stamped areas with a mask and doing more stamping over the masked image.  Masking is also a great way to cover a stamped image and add background color.    Another type of mask is a STENCIL that masks areas allowing you to add ink where you like.  The choice is yours, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image on your project.

Need a little inspiration?  Here's some samples from our design team.  Want a closer look?   No worries.. we'll be featuring these projects on Wednesdays throughout the month so you can see how each project was created.

Happy Halloween
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0012

Hello! And welcome to my post featuring Poppystamps newest... Halloween release! It couldn't get more exciting around here, with the new stamps and dies. I get to feature the newest pumpkin set, Swirl Pumpkin and Harvest Pumpkin!

DSC_0016

DSC_0004

Oh how I love this time of year! Changes everywhere, from the weather, to the leaves on trees, fall is definitely in the air. Even the food we eat takes on a pumpkin spice flavor! (Lattes anyone?)

Pumpkin Swirl is everything Poppystamps is known for: perfectly sized and shaped with even the sweetest vine curled on top! And with it's mate, Harvest Pumpkin, you can use just the silhouette or back it with contrast color.

Let's look at how I made this card. I love to create a scene, and with a bit of drama for the Halloween season. Sponge inking a background came first, in colors that will let my pumpkins take center stage.

DSC_0001

Now for a slightly spooky tree...

DSC_0022

I created a stencil with Poppy's Birch Tree die, sponging it with a ghostly gray,  and next made a frame from Poppy's largest Pointed Oval Frames.

DSC_0021

I cut the frame several times to pop it up, then added the sponge inked frame to the top of my stack.

DSC_0009

All 3 pumpkins were cut with glitter paper, and the orange pumpkin popped up with foam. My greeting is also a new die, Happy Halloween Signs. You're going to be seeing this set of sentiments a lot during the release. It's beyond cute, with just a bit of  'Haunted Mansion' flare to it!

DSC_0015

Are you excited? You could win the set of your choice by leaving a comment on the different posts all week.

Good Luck, Happy Fall and happy creating!

Sending Hugs and Prayers
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0009 2

Hi everyone! I have a card today showcasing a new stamp and die set from Poppystamps called, Sending Scribbles.

It's wonderful to have the option to use matching dies when creating a card!

Here's a look at what I used:

DSC_0004

I made my card a shaker using the Curved Banner Frame die, stamping inside and on the banner.

DSC_0006

All those cute little shaker elements are from an online shop called Buttons Galore, (more about them later this month!),

and come already mixed. This vial of sequins and beads is a Candy Cane mix. I sprinkled a few on the outside of the shaker too.

DSC_0010

The banner's been cut 3 times to pop up a bit, and the bottom flowers also popped up with foam.

All my images were colored with Ranger's Distress Oxide Inks.

Hope this inspires you to get creative with some of your stamps and dies! Have a fabulous day!

Wintertime Fairies Slider Card
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0084

Hi there! Nancy here, and I have an interactive card to show you today. It's Slider Week at Poppy, and Memory Box has released a new die set to help you create a slider.

DSC_0003

The set offers 4 sizes and shapes, and is used with your stamps. Let me show you.

If you've never done a slider card, You Tube has several videos and how-to's. My slider is made with 2 pieces of foam fit together within the cutout, and attached to my fairy. A pulltab with ribbon slides the image through the slide.

DSC_0008

The stamp set I used is from the darling new Wintertime Fairies, (coming soon!) and has a coordinating set of matching dies.

DSC_0074

The sweet holiday fairies set has 3 fairies in different poses. I stamped, cut and colored my fairies and images first,

and created my background card base from Distress Oxide Inks. On the bottom of the card I created a stencil by tearing a piece of paper in the shape of a hill before spritzing it with white spray.

DSC_0087

The scene has the flying fairy starting at one end of the card, and flying to the other end, lighting the Christmas lights banner.

DSC_0086

I hope you enjoyed my slider post today. Remember to check back to see how each designer  used this useful and fun die set!

And don't forget to leave a comment to win a stamp set of your choice. Good luck!
