Poinsettia Joy
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0065

Hello, my Poppy friends! I'm up today with a card made with the new Mod Poinsettias. Three dies come in this set, 3 sizes, perfect for stacking.

DSC_0043

I cut the trio of blooms several times. Just to let you know, after cutting, I ran through my die cut machine again with my rubber pads to show the petal details.

DSC_0046

With Ranger's Festive Berries Distress Ink, I sponged on color. Heavier in the center, and touching the tips a bit stronger too.

I also inked a couple of die cuts in Lucky Clover for the leaves.

DSC_0070

Lots of stacked poinsettias with leaves and green rhinestones in different sizes.

DSC_0063

A simple joy sentiment popped up a bit with foam, from Poppy's Joy Outline die.

And another holiday card done!

Hope you enjoyed today's post, and hope you're loving all the new holiday dies Poppystamps has for you!

Hi there, Poppy Friends! How's your holiday stash coming along? No pressure, but it is sneaking up rather quickly!

Let's take a look at a quick and easy card to make with the new Mountain Hills Plate die, that's also a lot of fun!

DSC_0039

Before I cut out my die, I inked it all with Distress Inks.

DSC_0014

In this case I used oxide inks, so they'd react with spritzed water. Kinda like a snowy day.

DSC_0033

Here's a side view to see 3 added layers of frame.

Before attaching my cut die parts, I pulled forward each of the trees, just a bit, and added 'snow' with Nuvo Glimmer.

Hope this gives you some ideas for your holiday cards or any cards using plate dies.

Happy Crafting!

Sending Autumn Hugs
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0017

Hi, it's my turn to bring you a project, using Poppy stamps and dies, and I've chosen a darling new die called, Birch Stitched Frame. It's a power packed die, 2 1/4 x 3 1/2", with so many possibilities.

DSC_0024

I wanted to keep my fall themed card monotone in color, and also full of sparkle. Truthfully, can't wait for cooler weather and soft breezes!

DSC_0025

Once I cut the birch tree frame, I sponge inked it with a couple of Distress Inks onto watercolor cardstock, following a quick watercolor method I learned from Jennifer McGuire. Look closely to see how I applied darker tones to the sides of the trunk and underside of the branch. Then, instead of water I spritzed the whole die cut with Lindy's Starburst: Twinkles Tinsel, for an all over glittered effect.

DSC_0009

The background is stenciled, first with sponge inking, then also sprayed with Lindy's Starburst. It's a quick and easy way to add a layer of shiny sheen to a card.

DSC_0003

Same treatment for MB's Botanical Stem.

DSC_0014

A bit of silver thread, a few silver  sequins, and a vellum sentiment embossed in white and platinum, and my card is done.

Hope I gave you some inspiration to start your fall cards. Is that a breeze I feel? Nope! It's the air conditioning coming on again.

Outside is 104! ~sigh~ Think I'll make another fall card and keep dreaming of season changes...

Happy Crafting!

Sending Joy
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0055

Greetings Poppy Fans! If you love the holidays, and all the traditions that make them special, then creating holiday cards is right up there at the top of your 'to do' list. My card today is a combo of some of the newest stamps and dies and hopefully will inspire you to get cookin' on your holiday card making.

DSC_0053

Holly Vine Sidekick Frame and Stencil lets you as artist, bring your special color touches to your cards.

DSC_0057

After taping the stencil over the leaves, I simply added a bit of sponged ink on each holly leaf. Don't you love the way the veins of the leaves stand out after sponging on the ink? The added texture of color just makes them pop!

DSC_0060

Poppy's Clear Stamps I used have matching dies, and note I cut 2 of the smaller poinsettia image. Here's why:

DSC_0054

Once I finished copic coloring my poinsettia, I fussy cut the center petals of one, and adhered it to the center of the first whole image with a bit of foam tape. The very center has some Stickles added.

DSC_0046

Plenty of room on the frame image to add my sentiment. First the word 'Joy' with embossing powder, then the rest stamped,

(note: the embossing powder I used is Ranger's Liquid Platinum), and JOY filled in with my copics.

DSC_0045

Hope you're inspired to play with a few of Poppy's new holiday collection! And be sure to come back every day for more inspiration! Happy crafting!

Merry and Bright
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0025

Greetings  Poppy fans! I'm up on the blog today bringing you a card with some of the new holiday dies.

DSC_0010

Lots of steps to make my Merry and Bright card. Let's start with the shaker.

DSC_0001

I cut my Pinpoint Shaker ornament from glitter paper, 3 times. I plan to make 3 of these cards, and to try doing the same to all of my handmade holiday cards this year. So much easier while all supplies are on hand, and when it's time to send out cards I'll have plenty ready to go.

DSC_0003

The back of the shaker was cut from a piece of card stock treated with Magical powder. Powder is sprinkled on, and when spritzed with water, the magic happens. Perfect for the shine I was going for. I love the shimmer that pops out when it dries.

DSC_0006

Instead of foam to build my shaker, I cut the die 4 times so that the edge would be smooth. Then I applied glue and glitter. You're going to see the side of the ornament, why not finish it with bling? Looks so 'holiday'!

DSC_0007

Plenty of shine for the background too, with Oxide ink and Mr. Huey's Color Mist. It's a holiday card, folks. Time to shine!

Speaking of shine, let's not forget the Pine branches.

DSC_0009

I gave my pine needles plenty of Snowflake Tinsel Embossing Powder by using my Versamark Ink Refil directly onto the needles.

Once dry, I gave some extra 'snow' by applying it again.

DSC_0023

Here's a closeup of my 'flocking'.

Hope you're inspired to start your holiday stash. And take my word, when it's time to send them, have 3 of each will come in handy!

Hope your week's extra crafty!

Holiday Blog Blitz! Trio of Joy
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0008

Hello! And welcome back to Poppy's holiday release Blog Blitz. Nancy here, and I'm featuring a new die called, 'Mountain Hills Plate'. And if you're looking for a holiday die that does it all, and delivers easy breezy, this one's a must have!

DSC_0020

The die measures an A2 size card, and cuts in 3 sections plus a frame. I chose to do my winter scene in shimmery shades of cardstock.

DSC_0016

Perfectly easy to do 3 cards, with all the sections lined up with the 3 colors of cardstock.

DSC_0021

Here's a tip for doing the 'joy' sentiment. I cut out the word from poppy's new Joy die, & ombred the die cut before stamping it with it's coordinated stamp from Tidings of Joy. I used my Misti to line up the word with the stamp, and simply inserted each

die cut before stamping. Once you do the first one, the others line up perfectly and easily.

DSC_0011

A few snowflakes and a sprinkling of sequins, and my trio of Joy is done! Already planning to do more in other colors, maybe with glitter paper?

DSC_0006

Want to win this fabulous Mountain Hills Plate die? Just leave a comment. Winners will be announced on the 6th. Hope you win! And don't forget to comment each day of the blitz!

Sending Sparkle
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0040

Hi! Nancy here, and I have a card full of sparkle today!

DSC_0049

My card uses a few of Poppy's fabulous dies, and some sponge inking too. I'll show you how I created it.

DSC_0028

Once I have a basic card idea, I get all my diecuts ready. For the Blooming Rose, I inked a scrap of cardstock with Distress Ink  colors before cutting it out.

DSC_0030

I did the same with my tag.

DSC_0035

For the background, I cut the 2 largest frames from the Double Stitch Scalloped Rectangle Frame set.

DSC_0041

This photo shows the sparkle when the light hits the card. Sentiment comes from Magic and Sparkle Clear Stamp set, and the sparkle is embossed with Stampendous Winter Wonderland. To help it stand out a bit, I used a colored pencil to hi-light the letters.

Hope you're inspired to give your card a bit of sparkle and shine. There are so many wonderful products out there.

Sprays, dry glitter, Stickles and Nuvo drops. Take your pick, and add some shiny goodness!

Sweet Wishes Friend
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0109

Hi! Nancy here, and today I'm sharing a card and a technique using your dies to create a stencil.

DSC_0105

It's aways a plus to get extra mileage from your dies, here's how I did just that.

DSC_0083

Poppy's new die, Winged Bird Collage is perfect for this technique. I die cut the bird image from a scrap of vellum, and inked it with Ranger's Distress Oxide Inks, on a piece of watercolor cardstock.

DSC_0087

I added some Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray, which really brings out the intensity of the Distress Oxide Inks.

DSC_0110

Here's a closeup of the watercolored panel that's been inked and Shimmer sprayed.

Hope you enjoyed this post today, and hope you give this technique a try. It's always fun to try new things!

Hope your day is extra crafty!

Challenge Reminder: Birthday Party!
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0043

Hi Poppy fans! There's a new challenge on the Poppystamps blog, and you who enjoy making birthday or other celebration cards, this challenge is for you!

DSC_0004

My Birthday Wishes card was so much fun to make. Let me show you why.

DSC_0039

I used the new Leafy Vine Collage with Best Wishes Folksy die and created my card with Magicals powder.

DSC_0003

I ordered my Magicals on Amazon. It's a powder in a small jar, that goes on deceptively plain (shook from a paintbrush), and when water is spritzed on, transformed into the magical background you see. My Double Stitch Rectangular Frames were cut 4 times for depth and glued together.

DSC_0005

Plenty of script words to choose from among the Poppystamps sets. Mine is from Magic and Sparkle.

Are you ready to win some shopping at the Poppystamps store?

Come play along all month!
