Love Rush
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5155-wm

Hello Everyone!

We are all so glad you could join us today, with thoughts of love and cheery days ahead! Today I am sharing a colorful card I created to capture that wonderful feeling of being in love, like a rush of fluttering butterflies! Take a look!

IMG_5152-wm

Tiny butterflies float across the page in a swoosh of color and dimension. I used the Stitched Fluttering Butterflies and the Love Stitch Circle to create a tiny 3D effect.

IMG_5148-wm

Adding the butterflies is the fun part! Once you have all your Lepidoptera cut, carefully fold them in half and arrange them on your card.

IMG_5150-wm

To adhere the butterflies to your card, all you need is a small splotch of glue right in the center. Once the butterfly is in place, gently hold the wings together and use the end of your craft tweezers to press down right in the center for a moment while your glue becomes tacky and sets in place. I like to use Aleene's original tacky glue because it dries so quickly, and has a nice small tip for gluing tiny little cuts.

IMG_5153-wm

Once the butterflies are dry, you can open and close their wings! You can lay the wings flat to slide into an envelope, or close them for a fluttery effect!

Thank you so much for joining us today!

Delightful Daisy
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5122-wm

Hello Everyone!

Our blog blitz is rolling on with even more great ideas and inspiration, and a chance to win too! Today I am sharing a card I created with the pretty Delightful Daisy! It's a sweet and simple CAS salute to spring! Take a look!

IMG_5120-wm

This card was so easy to make (and quick too) that it completely slipped my mind to take a few photos of the creative steps! Ooops!  I cut out the Delightful Daisy in green, white, and yellow, the Little Rabbits, and the Stitched Fluttering Butterflies, glued them in place and it was finished, quick like a bunny! So today, I am going to share a little tip to add dimension to your beautiful CAS die cut cards.

IMG_5124-wm

This tip works especially well with flowers, leaves, and butterflies! When gluing your cuts on to your card base, leave a few areas of the cut "unglued." With the daisy, I glued down the center, but left the petals unglued, then carefully manipulated the paper  to curl the petals up a little, creating dimension and shadow. You could also try a double curl, where you bend the petals up at the center of the flower, then curl them down at the end with a pencil. This is a great effect on flowers like poinsettias or succulent petals, to make the cuts looks puffy. Paper is a wonderful media to manipulate with just simple simple bends and twists.

To add dimension to butterflies, bend them lengthwise in half and just glue a little bit in the center. You can create a swoosh of butterflies, for example, and bend the wings in different positions to look like they are fluttering. I think I'll try that in my next card!

IMG_5118-wm

I can't wait to see all your fresh new ideas with Poppystamps new spring collection! Since it IS a blog blitz, let's get to the blog candy! You could win the Delightful Daisy die just by leaving a comment on today's post! Enter every day for every die you would like to win! Best of luck!

Poppystamps January Challenge: Snow Day
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5072-wm

Hello Everyone!

There is so much going on here on the Poppystamps blog, you won't want to miss a thing! In addition to our amazing blog hop, where you could win every day, we have an exciting January challenge we would love you to join! This month, our theme is Snow Day! Create a card or project with your idea for Snow Day, and link it up here on the blog for your chance to win some brand new blog candy!

01-18+copy

Growing up in Wisconsin, Snow Days meant winter fun and friends! Now that I live in the deep South, I sometimes miss seeing the beautiful winter landscapes, quiet and white,  fluffy snow covering everything like a blanket. At night, hues of purples and greens would wave through the starry sky like a searchlight. For my Snow Day inspiration, I created a simple shaker, crispy snow white and filled with sparkly sequins.

IMG_5070-wm

If you've never made a shaker card before, let 2018 be the year you give it a try! The idea is simple; create a "well" out of foam tape or craft foam, fill it with sequins, then add your cover panel. Make sure you've added a window too, which can be made from just about anything you have in the house, such as plastic packaging, or a recycled clam shell. I usually make a lot of shaker cards, since I love they way they sound, so I go to the office store and get a pack of clear computer pages. You can also purchase individual sheets too if you'd like to start small.

IMG_5066-wm

You can fill your shakers with all kinds of fun materials too! I used purple, green, and blue sequins to remind me of the Northern Lights! You can use a mix of sequins, tiny seed beads, tiny confetti or paper cuts, chunky glitter, coffee beans, be creative! One time I made a shaker with black Tahitian sand, a few tiny shells and a magical "pearl"!

IMG_5067-wm

You can make a Snow Day shaker, or some other Winter fun Snow Day idea, using at least one Poppystamps die or stamp, and you might be randomly selected to win a $20 gift certificate to use in the Poppystamps shop! We can't wait to see what you'll create!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

Rustic Winter Wreath
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5061-wm

Hello Everybody!

Today I am sharing a card I created that was inspired by those frosty winter mornings in the country. I love waking up early and seeing the way the frost has covered the trees, and the wreath on the old barn door is a rustic Christmas welcome.

IMG_5053-wm

To create the rustic winter wreath, I cut 4 pieces of the Twisted Oak Branch, 2 in green and 2 in glittery white, and arranged them into a roundish shape. Then I added 2 Pine twigs, a Cheery cardinal, and tiny stars from the All-Star Collage. I used a fancy coppery patina paper, to look like rustic tin or copper stars on those beautiful old country barns.

Winter White Out
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5036-wm

Hello Everyone!

Are you ready for the big snows of the season? As a child growing up in Wisconsin, I used to love waking up on frosty winter mornings to the crisp white snow covering every inch of the yard. I still love seeing lots of snow today, unless I have to shovel it of course! Today I have created an unusual card for me, an all-white Winter White Out! Take a look!

IMG_5031-wm

It's completely white! Originally I had planned to add bits of color here and there, like tiny brown deer, or yellow lights in the window, but I really liked the idea of a perfectly white scene with a smooth a snow texture too!

IMG_5026-wm

I started out by cutting a square card base out of heavy white card stock, then cutting the Pointed Square Frame, trimming and measuring until I reached a perfect fit!

IMG_5029-wm

Then I cut out all the tiny parts of the Classic Cottage, two Tree Trunks, and the Tiny Fawns, all out of crisp white card stock. I then added the first Tree Trunk to the upper left corner, then trimmed the second Tree Trunk to line up alongside the first, to look like  continual row of trees. Once the trees were in place, I added the Pointed Square Frame.

IMG_5030-wm

This picture is a little fuzzy, I know! I was gluing the Tree Trunks into the upper right corner with my right hand, and holding the camera with the left! But I know you get the idea! Once the trees and frame were in place, the house, windows, doors, eaves and Tiny Fawns wee easy breezy!

IMG_5033-wm

That's how to make your own Winter White Out! This would look really cute as a holiday gift tag too!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

Poinsettia Mini
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4996-wm

Hello Everybody!

We hope you are all enjoying our Holiday Blog Blitz and are finding beautiful ideas and inspiration along the way! Today, I am sharing a card that I have created with the beautiful Poinsettia Mini! Take a look!

IMG_4991-wm

I began with a completely different idea, but let the card take the shape of its own, and I love the final result! I began by cutting out seven tiny Poinsettia Mini pieces out of shiny, red foil paper, and set them aside. Originally I had planned to add a lot of snowflakes and fairies, but then I thought about a Christmas greenhouse, warm and balmy and filled with poinsettias! Native to Mexico, the poinsettia carries symbolic religious meaning in many countries. Did you know that in the United States, December 12 is National Poinsettia Day?

IMG_4994-wm

I used a handful of my favorite Poppystamps dies to create this sparkly card, and they all cut so well through thicker foil and glitter papers. I curled the leaves upward to add dimension, and mounted the tiny poinsettias with tiny bits of foam pop dots to raise them off the page just a touch. The centers are tiny silver pearls.

Our Blog Blitz runs from November 20 -30, so make sure you leave a comment on every day that you'd like to win! Today's prize is the Poinsettia Mini!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

Faerie Kingdom Challenge
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4909-wm

Holiday magic is in the air,  sparkling with the dreams of sugar plum faeries and frosty winter days! That's certainly how I imagined my beautiful holiday faerie card I created for the November Challenge, Faerie Kingdom! There's still a little time left to create a card or project using at least one Poppystamps die or stamp. How will you create a Faerie Kingdom?

11-17+copy IMG_4906-wm

I began my Sugarplum Faerie card by mounting the Brilliant Leaf Frame onto a crisp white card base. I cut out a handful of Stitched Oak Trio leaves in green glittery paper, and curled them up at the ends with my fingers. I added the Scribble Snowflake Circle, and adhered the Winterland Faerie with some foam bits to give her a little pop. A few Faerie sequins finished it off with a little sparkle and shine!

IMG_4904-wm

We can't wait to see what you'll create! Show us your Faerie Kingdom and you might be randomly selected to win a gorgeous new Poppystamps surprise!

Thanks so much for joining us today!
