Summer Wishes
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5473-wm

Hello Everyone!

We are so glad you could join us here on the Poppystamps blog today! Today I am sharing two versions of a sweet Summer card that features three different techniques. Some of you may be "old pros" at this, but for others, these simple techniques might be something you have always wanted to try, but never quite had the time. These hot, humid summer days are the perfect time to add a new spin to your stamping!

IMG_5471-wm

I used the pretty Peony Stems and Blossom clear polymer stamps to create the same card design using two different easy breezy techniques. The first card was colored with copic markers, and the second card was painted with pearlescent watercolors available at most craft stores.

IMG_5460-wm

Each card began the same way. After cutting out a card base panel, I then cut the Best Wishes Folksy Script in pretty shiny silver foil, and arranged the stamps and the sentiment in the pattern I was going to stamp on my paper. I thought I would add a lot more leaves and vines that would sort of "tumble" down the page, but I decided that pretty peony made a beautiful focal point and kept the design simple.

IMG_5463-wm

I stamped the flowers in silver ink, one image at a time, then covered the image with silver embossing powder, shook off the excess powder, then heated the image until the silver powder turned into a firm and shiny outline. Both cards were created the same way.

IMG_5465-wm

Once the image was completely dry, I colored the flowers with a few copic markers. You don't need a lot of markers to create pretty images with a little bit of shading. Whatever you try will look bright and beautiful!

IMG_5467-wm

Once my flowers were colored with the copics, I glued the card to the folded base, added the Best Wishes Folksy Script, and finished it off with a few sequins. I then painted my second card with watercolor paints, let them dry, and finished the card in the same way. Two different cards, with two very different looks!

IMG_5469-wm

You may be new to embossing, copics, or watercolors, but Poppystamps images are all so adorable and sharp that it's easy to experiment, even for beginners! Give it a try and show us what you create!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

A Flutter of Florals
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5327-wm

Hello Everybody!

We are so thrilled that you could join us here at Poppystamps today! Today I am sharing a bright and cheerful summery card that's full of fun and color! Take a look!

IMG_5339-wm

I love using the Diamond Background for so many projects, especially for spring and summer garden themes. It reminds me of a pretty garden trellis, and it's a beautiful backdrop for these tiny blooms and hummingbirds.

After cutting the Diamond background in a "base" lime green, I adhered it to my card base, then cut additional Diamonds in multiple colors. Originally I had planned on a more colorful background, but after seeing how my tiny flowers were shaping up, I decided to make all the diamond inserts white, to really make my flowers pop.

IMG_5322-wm

After gluing in all the diamonds, I added the Little Hummingbirds with tiny foam dots, then went to work on the Poinsettia Minis. I cut out all of the petals, curled them inwards with a ball burnisher, glued them all together, added them to my card, and finished them with tiny blue jewel centers.  It's not very hard work. but it is a little time-consuming, and it takes a delicate hand and some craft tweezers. The results are always eye-catching!

Florida Flamingo
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5334-wm

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to Poppystamps! Now that summer is knocking on our doors, it's time to think about vacations! How about Florida? This Fine Flamingo is happy to welcome you to the Sunshine State, or anywhere else warm and sunny! Even if it's cold where you are now, you can shake off the winter blues with vivid colors, fine flamingos, and floral displays in bright colors!

IMG_5337-wm

I started with a grey background panel, and framed it with a white Pointed Rectangle Frame. I added the Fine Flamingo in a hot pink, and then arranged the Blooming Rose and Rose Stem to look like an opening through a garden grove. I wanted each flower to look slightly different, so I tweaked the die cuts just a little, adding a leaf here, or cutting off a curly vine there. When I was happy with the lay-out, I cut each flower in two shades of yellow, orange, and blue, and glued the pieces in place with craft tweezers. The Stitched Fluttering Butterflies made a bright finishing touch.

Thanks so much for joining us today! We love sharing our designs with you, and we also love to see what our Poppystamps friends and family like to create too!

Delightful Daisies
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5290-wm

Hello Everyone!

Spring is arriving everywhere, and it's time to celebrate with a colorful bouquet of Delightful Daisies! Take a look!

IMG_5288-wm

This card will brighten your mood and chase away those winter blues. I used the Delightful Daisy to cut out five different daisies in two different sizes, then played around with the stems and leaves. It's easy to create multiple stems and leaves by trimming the cuts in different ways. Once my pieces were all cut out, I assembled my card base, background panel, and the Pointed Rectangle Frame.

IMG_5279-wm

I added a few Splendid Stitched Hearts and the Little Luxe Love and it feels like a lovely spring day!

Row Your Boat
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5261-wm

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to be sharing this card I created with the brand new Seaside Dock and the Wooden Rowboat! WhenI first saw this adorable combination, I thought about all of the great metaphors a little boat and a dock could create. I really played around with these two images a lot too, in order to get it just right. What messages do YOU see with this tiny boat? Is it off to a new adventure, or sailing in to a safe shore? Is it a reminder to a friend that you are always near, or an encouragement to someone whose journey has just begun, or that our dreams are still just out of reach? Maybe it's just a little boat on a summer's day!

IMG_5257-wm

The Seaside Dock and the Wooden Rowboat were cut with basic cardstock, and then placed inside the Pointed Rectangle Frame. I added two tiny waves from the Gentle Wave Collage and a few sparkling sequins and voila!

A New Arrival
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5271-wm

Hello Everyone!

We are so happy you could join us today! Today I am sharing a card I created that features this pair of sweet Little Rabbits! This could be a great Easter card idea, but it was actually created to welcome a brand new baby boy into our extended family! He's not here yet, but everyone is awaiting his arrival soon!

IMG_5267-wm

This card was so easy to make! I started by cutting out the Little Rabbits in teal, then cut the squares from the Double Stitch Square Frames in shades of blue and white. Can you imagine how cute this would look in pink or yellow too? Everything from the DoubleStitch Square Frames fits together so perfectly too!

IMG_5269-wm

These Little Rabbits would look great with our April challenge too, Spring Fever! A new arrival is on the way!

Thanks so much for joining us today!
