Good Things

Hello Everyone!

Have you fallen in love with the beautiful new Poppystamps clear photopolymer stamp sets yet? Our entire team is crazy for these fun floral images, which is why you'll be seeing a lot of amazing stamped designs in the coming weeks. Today, I am sharing a cheerful CAS card I created with the Sending Scribbles stamp set, and the new Pointed Rectangle Frames. Take a look!

IMG_4630-wm

I went super CAS with this pretty purple rose and sentiments from Sending Scribbles. I started by cutting out my card base out of white card stock, then cutting out my frame, which has these modern pin point details around the edges.

IMG_4626-wm

I wanted my rose, leaves, heart, and sentiment to rally stand out, so I used clear embossing powder and a heat gun to give the lines a raised, shiny edge. The embossing adds a wonderful smooth feel to the images.

IMG_4628-wm

I always glue the frames down last, but I keep using the frame to help center my images before I stamp. I also will help plan my designs by arranging the stamps themselves, or by using a scrap piece of card stock to practice my inking technique.

IMG_4629-wm

Once I'm happy with the design, I stamp the images directly on to the card stock, sprinkle the embossing powder, then heat it with a heat gun until the image sets. I added the leaves after masking the rose and stamping directly onto the card stock. These clear images work beautifully for masking and stamping techniques.

IMG_4633-wm

Once my embossing was finished, I colored the images with copic markers and added a few purple sequins. Super CAS and will lie nice and flat in the envelope. By the time I was ready to add the frame, I thought it would look better in the purple than the green.

Little Luxe Love
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4553-wm

Hello Everyone!

Summer is in full swing with lush green leaves everywhere I look. We've had plenty of rain and scorching, muggy heat, which means the jungle in my back yard is thick and full! So here's a simple little salute to summer using a few die cuts and a winning tri-color trio!

IMG_4550-wm

Kraft, lime green, and white always look great together, especially on fun summer cards. I cut out three Little Luxe Loves and stacked them up for a little dimension, then added the Graceful Faerie in bright white. I cut the Majestic Maples and the Leafy Breeze in a mouth-watering green, and added the Bellen Corners in Kraft. Easy Breezy Summertime fun!

IMG_4545-wm

Here's a fun way to add a little pop and dimension to these big Majestic Maples. After you've cut them, simply shape them with your hands by gently curving the edges up, as if you were making a little paper bowl.

IMG_4548-wm

Then add a little glue puddle just to the flat spot where the leaf sits on the card base. After it dries, you can continue to shape the leaf by gently curving or flattening with your fingers, or even a round tip burnisher for tiny leaves and petals. It makes green leaves look like they are floating through the air, and it makes fall leaves look natural and curly.

We're so glad you could join us today for a little summertime crafty fun! While you're here, take a look at our June Challenge, Rainbow Wishes!

Night Faeries
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4508-wm

Hello Everyone!

I'm so glad you could join us today!  Have you caught the faerie buzz yet? Faeries are so trendy right now, and lucky for us, Poppystamps has a beautiful collection of faeries to add to your summer crafty fun. Today I'm sharing a card I created with the Magnificent Mini Faeries! Take a look!

IMG_4504-wm

To create the colorful background, I used Distress Oxide inks and blended a few colors to create an evening sky. There's no right or wrong, just grab a sponge and have some fun! I wanted to take more tutorial photos, but the battery on my camera was dead! I had to make the card while the camera was charging, so I only have finished photos today. I guess that's part of the mystery of faeries - -  only the very, very lucky get a chance to see their magical dance.

IMG_4507-wm

I cut all of the images in black and glued them flat to my inked sky card panel. I wanted the scene to look like you had secretly come across this dancing duo on a midnight walk. I used a few tiny stars and dots from the Snowflake Oval Collage, Mushrooms and Toadstools, Preppy Flowers, and the ends of the Twisted Oak Branch. Just like magic, the faeries appear!

Thank you so much for joining us today!

Today I am sharing a card I created with the brand new Sweet Pea Flowers! I love how they drop down in a big beautiful burst of petals. In the morning, their tiny cups fill with dew and drip down for all the woodland creatures to enjoy!

I knew I wanted to use foam pop dots in order to add more dimension to the card, but I had to figure out a way to be able to piece the tiny petals of the flowers in place without falling out. So I cut a fan-shaped piece of card stock stock out and glued it to the back of the flower heads.

IMG_4440-wm

Once the petals were all glued in place, I added the foam pop dots and then glued the flower to my card base.

IMG_4443-wm

Then I added Mushrooms and Toadstools, and a few forest friends from Bellina Corner, Serene Rabbit and Bunny Hop. There's another little surprise too, a Magnificent Mini Faerie! She's part of our new May release too.

How would you like to add the Sweet Pea Flowers to your collection? Just leave a comment on this post for an opportunity to win!

Faerie Magic
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4439-wm

Hello Everyone!

It's that special time of the year when we're getting our gardens together with a little hope and a prayer, and a visit from a magical garden faerie! Today, I am sharing an easy layered card that features the glittery Thoughtful Faerie! Take a look!

IMG_4436-wm

I started with a stitched card base, and added a fun die, the Coulis Collage! Coulis Collage is a fun die to use because it can give the illusion of so many things, like a window, a garden trellis, a panel, a tapestry, just let your imagination take flight. Since the Coulis Collage is a die that cuts out from a background panel, I cut a small edge around the opening with a pair of scissors to create a window piece that was adhered onto the purple panel. Then I cut the Thoughtful Faerie out of yellow glitter paper, and used pieces of a foam pop dot to give her dimension, along with the tiny flower pot. Then I added the Gingko Branch, and stars and hearts from All Star Collage and Preppy Deer.

IMG_4437-wm

This little faerie was sent to bring your garden a little luck and a little love! She would make a great addition to a card that you could create for our May challenge, Flower Power!

There's so much going on here at Poppystamps this week, you won't want to miss a thing! Thanks so much for joining us today!

Spring Cleaning
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4406-wm

Hello Everyone!

Are you in the mood for a little spring cleaning? These little bluebirds are sprucing up the yard . . .or are they making a mess? Either way, they are just SO cute you will want to add them every place you can! I used the Small Chickadee, an old favorite, and turned these fabulous Mushrooms and Toadstools into step stools to help them get the job done.

IMG_4404-wm

I love creating cards that portray a little scene, or paint a visual picture. The trick is to mix and match your dies so that the images will always remain in perspective, creating or implying foreground and background. I wish I could tell you that there's always a hard and fast rule for creating perspective in your cards, such as big images in the front and little images in the back, but you can always use your dies to "force" perspective in new and creative ways. Sometimes, if I'm trying to work out a little scene, I will cut out a few of the dies in plain white cardstock and move them around the frame to see how they will look. You can also create scenes that extend off the page, or create multiple layers of depth, with trees and flowers in the front, and mountains or houses in the back. One of the reasons I love creating with Poppystamps is the terrific collection of images that make creating outdoor nature scenes a breeze, and you can be as realistic or as artistic as you like!

Spring Celebration
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4345-wm

Hello Everyone!

I love to mark the official start of spring as opening day of baseball season! March madness and brackets slip away and green grass and sunshine emerge! I decided to mark the start of the new season by making this fun card for my hubbie, who loves the Houston Astros!

IMG_4341-wm

To create the fun star background, I used the All Star Collage that I cut out of a light gray stitched card panel, adhered to a white card base. It really works well on panels of any shape--rectangle, square, etc, and you can use overlay or paper piecing techniques. Once I had the grey panel in place, I cut the All Star Collage again in orange and added the little orange stars like puzzle pieces with a tiny drop of glue.

IMG_4361-wm

I then cut three stars from the Scribble Trio set, and two Fancy Celebrate in blue and white.  Lucky for me, the logo of the Houston Astros is a big orange star, so I made this card in Astros colors. The light gray is a great neutral color, but hubbie's favorite Astros t-shirt is gray with blue sleeves and the orange star, so my color combination and that Scribble Trio star work perfectly together. But this sporty design would work great with just about any sports team, like Mariners blues and silver, or Cubs red, white, and blue! It would also make a great birthday card idea for your little All-Stars too!

Fine Little Feathers
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_4306-wm

Hello Everybody!

There's a fine little trend popping up all over the place, Tiny Feathers! Lined up in rows, scattered, thrown, or blown, colorful little feathers are the season's MUST HAVE new dies!

IMG_4302-wm

I used the Tiny Feathers die set and a sentiment from Into the Words to create this colorful row of feathers. I began with some watercolor paper scraps and painted a rainbow hued panel, then die cut all the feathers.

IMG_4299-wm

Once the feathers were cut, I curled up both ends of each feather a little just by using my fingers, then lined them up on my card in a design I liked. They look so pretty against a crisp, white background.

IMG_4304-wm
The sky's the limit with the latest fine feather trend!

IMG_4236-wm

Today, I'm sharing a colorful Easter tag I created with the Preppy Flowers, beautiful, open wildflowers perfect for spring! Right off the die cutting machine, the flowers are all aligned in a pretty row on a little grassy hill. But here's an easy tip to make these flowers work just about anywhere!

IMG_4238-wm

The Preppy Flowers can be trimmed into individual flower pieces, then mounted with a tiny bit of glue behind the edge of your oval tag, or even in a straight line behind a horizontal border.

IMG_4239-wm

You can arrange the Preppy Flowers any way you like, then adhere your Fluffy Bunny with half of a foam pop dot.

IMG_4245-wm

You can even add a few flowers to the back of your tag too, giving it a touch of colorful whimsy!

Do you love these Preppy Flowers as much as I do! Simply leave a comment on this post and you might be selected as the lucky winner of this beautiful, steel crafted die!
