Holiday Blog Blitz: Holly Twig
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here today, sharing a few new goodies from our latest 2017 Holiday Release.  Please forgive my photography skills, though.  White is super hard for me to photograph, but it's ever so striking in real life.  Enjoy!

Poppy Season's Greetings Jar - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by rubbing Broken China Distress Ink, through the Winter Scattered Snowflakes designer stencil, onto the center of the white cardstock, card face.  Over the stenciling, I created the scene with die cuts, beginning with an older Ava Snowflake, die-cut from white cardstock.  The rest of the die cuts all came from this latest release.  The Double Pine Cone Collage was die-cut from Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Tip:  Use the negative die cut as a template for gluing each of those little bits into their proper places.  The Wispy Pine Needles were die-cut from Old Olive cardstock.  The Holly Twig, which you have the opportunity to win on the blog today (Woot!  Woot!), was die-cut from Soft Suede and Garden Green cardstocks; and Xmas Red Stickles was used for the berries.  Finally, the Cute Fawn was die-cut from watercolor paper and watercolored.

8.8.17 027

I then die-cut the largest jar, from the new Jar Collection craft dies, in the center of a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" white, glitter paper.  A strip of vellum was gold-embossed with the "season's greetings" sentiment, taken from our Christmas Greetings stamp set, and adhered along the vertical, left edge of the backside of the die-cut jar, sandwiched between the glitter paper and a sheet of clear cardstock.  The edges of the glitter paper were then framed with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  Tip:  Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, machine-stitching the glitter paper and clear cardstock together also ensures that they stay put for the long haul.

8.8.17 033

The prepped, jar panel was then popped up, with foam tape, over everything else; but before it was adhered in place, I added lots of white glitter, to the scene itself, to create a shaker effect.  Tip:  Apply a thin layer of baby powder over all the glued bits, as well as to the backside of the clear cardstock, to prevent the glitter from sticking itself in all the wrong places.  The lid was die-cut from gold cardstock; hand-cut along its bottom edge; adhered to the top of the jar; and embellished with a couple of Garden Green cardstock, Holiday Holly die cuts, as well as a double, white, seam binding ribbon bow, studded with a single, white pearl, to complete the look.

8.8.17 037

Be sure to stop back by every day through next Tuesday, August 14, 2017, to see what my talented teammies have cooked up, using all the newly-released goodies, just for your viewing pleasure.  AND don't forget to leave lots of love as you visit; because a new, Holiday Release product is being randomly given away on EACH AND EVERY Poppystamps' blog post.  You have until Thursday, August 17, 2017, to do so.  Winners will be announced, right here on the blog, the following Friday, August 18, 2017.  As I said before, I've got that fabulous Holly Twig craft die, that you see in action above, to giveaway today.

That's it, from me, for today, friends.  Actually, that's it, from me, for Poppystamps.  It's my time to move on; but before I do, I have to send out a massive thank you to Jeanne for her friendship and loyalty.  She has unwaveringly believed in me and, without a doubt, been my biggest cheerleader.  I also wanted to thank Dave for giving me the opportunity to work with his gorgeous and intricate dies.  I have been stretched creatively beyond my wildest imagination but, truly, in such a good way.  And finally, thank you to each and every one of YOU, my faithful followers.  I hope this won't be the end for us and that you'll continue to come along with me on my creative journey.  What's in store is sure to surprise you as much as it does me, but I can't wait to see what it may be!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and good luck with ALL the glorious prizes during release week!  Be blessed!

PSC #35 Beyond Borders - There are so many different kinds of dies to love but border dies are some of our favorites.  Borders are used to define the edge of a design or to divide  areas on a project, but they're not limited to that.  They can be used to create a border or  to dress up a wrap around a gift.  Borders  add a lacy edge and a pop of color to a design.  The intricate designs make everything look rich and expensive.  The choice is yours!  This month we're looking for borders on your designs.  They don't have to be die cut.. they can be stamped or punched.   Whatever you decide be sure to include at least one Poppystamps image (die or stamp) on your design.

Here's some samples from our design team.  Want a closer look?   No worries.. we're starting a new feature on the blog on Wednesdays where you'll get a close up of each project with close ups and details.

Life Is Full of Magic
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here.  I created a little number, using some new goodies from the latest 2017 Holiday Release, and wanted to share it with you all today.  My thought process behind this card was to make it look as though the largest of the new Jar Collection craft dies were used to collect treasures from a child's garden hunt.

Poppy Life is Full of Magic - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by stamping a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of watercolor paper, in Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Faded Jeans, Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose, Barn Door, and Peeled Paint Distress Inks, with images from Birch Press Design's Watercolor Wildflowers stamp set.  Y'all, I just can't get enough of these gorgeous blooms.  Swoon!  I then spritzed everything with water just to fade the flowers into the background before splattering over them with watered-down Tumbled Glass and Barn Door Distress Inks, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.

Poppy Life is Full of Magic closeup - JinnyNewlin

Once everything was dry, I stamped the "LIFE IS FULL OF magic" sentiment, from a sweet, little, new, Believe in Magic stamp set, in Jet Black ink, along the vertical left edge of the prepped piece before framing it with Pool Party cardstock and white-threaded, straight, machine stitching.7.12.17 009

The jar itself was then die-cut from clear cardstock and filled with a Tomei Branch, die-cut from Always Artichoke cardstock; Pine Twig, die-cut from Garden Green cardstock; Ragged Daisy, die-cut from Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, and white cardstocks; and the new Sugarplum Faerie, die-cut from watercolor paper.

7.12.17 012

The fairy was also painted with watercolors; and a simple button, not to mention a snippet of cheesecloth, fills the jar completely.

7.12.17 027

To secure the jar to the prepped piece without showing any adhesive, I also partially die-cut and partially hand-cut it from Going Gray and Soft Suede cardstocks to create the foundation of dirt and the lid.  It was not adhered in any other places other than the top and bottom bits.  The lid was also wrapped with a length of Baker's Twine, tied in a bow; and a die-cut, from Riding Hood Red cardstock, Stitched Butterfly, which was embellished with a single pearl and lots of Clear Wink of Stella for shimmer and shine, completes the look.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Poppystamps friends!  Be blessed!

Happy Dad's Day
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here today, sharing the card I stretched my stash to make my dad for Father's Day.

Poppy Happy Dad's Day - JinnyNewlin
I started this card by adding green and blue, watercolor puddles to a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of watercolor paper.  I then splattered it with those same shades of watercolor, as well as teal watercolor, before smearing Tumbled Glass Distress Ink through the Memory Box Winter Snowflakes stencil and splattering once again, but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  The Stitched Tunnel Tag was then die-cut, from the prepped piece, just left of vertical center and set aside for later before matting that same original, watercolor piece with white cardstock and anchoring it, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, to the Brocade Blue, cardstock, card face.  I then used the "happy valentine's day" stamp, from our Grateful Heart stamp set, to make the "happy DAD's day" sentiment by replacing the "valentine" with die-cut, from teal cardstock, using our Happy Birthday Bold die, letters to spell "DAD".

6.17.17 052
The Stitched Tunnel Tag, that had been set aside previously, was then laced with Baker's Twine...

6.17.17 058
backed with a bit of cheesecloth for texture; and popped up, with foam tape, in the same, negative space from which it was initially die-cut.

Poppy Happy Dad's Day zoom - JinnyNewlin

It was also topped with a stamped in Jet Black ink, watercolored, and hand-cut Be Mine Penguin, dressed in a top hat and tie and popped up with more foam tape, in addition to a stamped, in Cotton White StazOn ink, on clear cardstock and die-cut Grateful Heart.  The stamped Grateful Heart was backed with another die-cut, clear, cardstock Grateful Heart, before they were stitched together; but before finishing off the last few white-threaded, straight, machine stitches, I stuffed the formed, heart pocket with Raspberry, Seaspray, Crystal, and silver star sequins, as well as silver seed beads, to complete the look.

Thanks, as always, for visiting us!  Be blessed!

Best Fishes
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here, on this beautiful, summer morning, to share a playful, under-the-sea, watercolor card.  It was inspired by the new I'm a Narwhal stamp set and coordinating dies from our May 2017 Release.  Enjoy!

  Poppystamps Best Fishes - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by adding blue and green watercolor puddles to a watercolor paper, card base and splattering it with those same shades of watercolor, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once it was dry, I stamped, from top to bottom, a gradient of Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, and Not Quite Navy waves across the background.

Poppystamps Best Fishes 2 - JinnyNewlin

I then watercolored a blue gradient onto a watercolor paper, Festival Tag die cut; stamped it, in Jet Black ink, with bubbles which would later be filled in with Glossy Accents for texture and shine; and popped it up, with foam tape, in the center of the card face.  A few, Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paint splatters set the stage for those darling narwhals, which were die-cut from watercolor paper; watercolored; and popped up, in their respective positions, with foam tape.

6.7.17 026

The "best fishes" sentiment was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a hand-cut, vellum banner and tucked behind the lower narwhal.

6.7.17 031
Finally, I added a little, die-cut, Brilliant Blue cardstock ring to the top center of the tag and laced it with white string, tied in a bow, to complete the look.

6.7.17 034
Thanks so much for humbling us with a visit!  Have a wonderful rest of your week, Poppystamps friends!

Have a Magical Birthday
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here today, sharing my big sister's magical, garden, birthday card.  Enjoy!

Poppy Have a Magical Birthday - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by stamping those Watercolor Wildflowers, that I simply cannot get enough of, in Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, and Peeled Paint Distress Inks, on watercolor paper.  I then spritzed over them with water to get more of a watercolor effect and splattered everything with those same shades of Distress Inks mentioned above, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  That set the foundation for my garden.  While it was drying, I pieced together the Blooming Poppy with Real Red, Basic Black, and Garden Green cardstock die cuts and the Ragged Daisy with white, Daffodil Delight, and Lucky Limeade cardstock die cuts.  Once they were adhered, in their respective positions, to the watercolor piece, I grounded them with a Preppy Flowers, Wild Wasabi cardstock die cut.

5.20.17 042

The prepped piece was then anchored, to the Pistachio Pudding cardstock card face, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  The Magnificent Mini Faeries were die-cut from Basic Black and white cardstocks; pieced together; and adhered, with foam tape, within the garden itself.  Their wings also got a healthy dose of Clear Wink of Stella for shimmer and shine.

5.20.17 047

I then die-cut the Pinpoint Balloons from Coastal Cabana cardstock; adhered them, in their respective locations; also gave them some shimmer and shine with Clear Wink of Stella, coated with Glossy Accents; and anchored them to the faeries' fists with hand-penned strings.

5.20.17 052

The black-embossed, "HAVE A magical BIRTHDAY" sentiment, from Fairy Greetings, completes the look.

5.20.17 064

Thanks so much for humbling us with a visit, Poppystamps friends!  Have a terrific Tuesday!  Hugs!

May Blog Blitz: Large Nimble Faerie
by Jinny Newlin

Welcome to the weekend, y'all!  It's Jinny here this morning, sharing a few new goodies from our May 2017 Release.  Enjoy!

Poppy Thank You Fairy Much - JinnyNewlinI started this card by watercoloring a scrap of watercolor paper, moving from left to right, in a rainbow of shades.  Once it was dry, I spritzed over it with Pearl mist for a little shimmer and shine and die-cut our new Floribunda Collage florals out of it.  I then backed it with a piece of white cardstock and anchored a split panel of white, glitter paper to either side of it with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  More white-threaded, straight, machine stitches secure a vertical strip of vellum, which was white-embossed with the "THANK YOU fairy MUCH" sentiment from our new Fairy Greetings stamp set.

5.12.17 023A length of white string was then wrapped, vertically, around the prepped piece, between the connection of the vellum strip and everything else and tied, in a bow, near the top edge of the prepped piece, before the latter was popped off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face with foam tape.

5.12.17 029I then die-cut our new Large Nimble Faerie from white cardstock; popped her body up with foam tape; and applied three shades of glitter to her wings, before adhering them to her back.  A sprinkling of clear, sequin blossoms completes the look.

5.12.17 032Be sure to stop back by every day through next Sunday, May 21, 2017, to see what my talented teammies have cooked up, using all the newly-released goodies, just for your viewing pleasure.  AND don't forget to leave lots of love as you visit; because a new, May Release product is being randomly given away on EACH AND EVERY Poppystamps' blog post.  You have until Monday, May 22, 2017, to do so.  Winners will be announced, on the Poppystamps blog, the following Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  I've got that fabulous Large Nimble Faerie craft die, that you see in action above, to giveaway today.

That's it, from me, for today; but there truly is so much left to see.  You simply don't want to miss out.  Have fun!  Good luck with ALL the glorious prizes; and have a wonderful weekend, Poppystamps friends!

Watercolored Birthday Shakers
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here today.  I trust you all had a fantastic, holiday weekend!  My family and I had a truly wonderful, resurrection celebration together in the morning and were blessed to get to spend a little time with extended family in the afternoon.  Easter Sunday happened to also be my dad's birthday; and if it's okay with you, I'd like to share the card I made for his special day, with you all, today.

Poppy Blue Happy Birthday Bold - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by adding a gradient of blue watercolor to the 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" watercolor paper, card base.  Once it was dry, I adhered a variety of sizes in a gradient of cardstock, Pinpoint Balloon die cuts, trailing just right of vertical center, using Brilliant Blue, Ballet Blue, Brocade Blue, Bordering Blue, and Bashful Blue cardstocks.

4.15.17 013

The Happy Birthday Bold die cut serves as my sentiment.  It was die-cut from a wide strip of white cardstock; backed with a sheet of clear acetate; and secured, in its present, angled position, with both silver and blue-threaded, straight machine stitching.  Before sealing off the sides of the prepped piece with liquid glue, I snuck a number of Sparkling Clear sequins, along with lots of large and small, silver, star sequins, in behind the sentiment panel.

4.15.17 015

The ends of the blue thread were tied, to the front of the card face, in a textural bow; and a couple strips of silver, glitter paper, adhered to either side of the sentiment panel, complete the look.

4.15.17 017

I'm always running low on birthday cards.  So, I decided to use this same design to knock out a couple more in different colors.

Poppy Happy Birthday Trio - JinnyNewlin

The green alternative was made in the exact same way as above with the exception of using a gradient of green watercolors, green thread, and the combination of Hunter Green, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Lucky Limeade, and Certainly Celery cardstocks for the Pinpoint Balloons.

Poppy Green Happy Birthday Bold - JinnyNewlin

The pink number used a gradient of pink watercolors, bright pink thread, and the combination of Rose Red, Strawberry Slush, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, and Pink Pirouette cardstocks for the Pinpoint Balloons.

Poppy Pink Happy Birthday Bold - JinnyNewlin

Thanks so much for humbling us with a visit!  Have a terrific Tuesday, Poppystamps friends!
