Merry & Bright
by Jeanne Jachna

Merry and Bright Five
I hope you're enjoying the 2016 new releases we're showing during our blog blitz!  We're excited to show you the new products and offer you a chance to win at the same time!  Today I'm showing the new Botanica Frame die.  I love that you can use this die two different ways using the positive or the negative of the die cut image.    I started by water coloring two panels in the same bright colors - I was thinking colorful Christmas lights here.   I'm going to start by showing you the die using the positive cut.   You simply cut the die and remove the die cut outer edges and die cut pieces.

Once the panel was cut I ran it through my die cut machine again with  the Merry & Bright Sentiment.   All that was left to do was pop out the die cut sentiment, mount it on the water color panel and adhere it to a card stock base.   I layered adhesive foam in between to add more dimension.
Merry Original
For my next card I used the 'negative' of the die cut.  After I ran the  die cut through my machine I trimmed it - adding a small frame around the outside of the cuts (this card is a little larger than an A2 size).    I removed the center panel from the die and then adhered it to a water color panel.

Now for the tricky part ... adding the little die cut pieces.  I tried to keep the center panel that I removed as "together" as possible.  That way I could flip the die over, add some liquid adhesive, carefully place it over the frame and then pop the pieces out onto the watercolor panel.   Using the die cut as a template to perfectly place elements was very helpful.
Merry and Bright Three
Last I cut the "Merry & Bright" sentiment and adhered it to the watercolor panel.  I was so tempted to add some clear sequins to this one, but in the end all the bright color won out and I let it do all the talking... no sparklies required! LOL!
So which one do you like best?  I prefer the second - I'm all over those colors like a moth to a flame!

How fun, two cards with one cut. I don't think I could pick a favorite from these two. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous cards!
I love them both,
and the colors on
the second are so
pretty. Great die.

Hi Jeanne, Gorgeous cards, I love how you have used both positive and negative, and I adore the background colours, rich and very 'uplifting', the Botanica Frame is so versatile, I love it !!
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Love how your bright watercolor backgrounds really pop the beautiful white dies. Great how you used both the positive and negatives to make 2 cards.

These are so pretty, love the bright happiness of these cards!

Wow! These are gorgeous but that second one really caught my eye. Such a unique color combo...and so cheerful.

Love both cards. They're so bright and cheerful. For help with keeping all the small pieces together, check out Jennifer McGuire's blog. She uses Press 'n Seal to help keep the positive and negative together for techniques like the one you used for the second card.

Well, you have a great start on your Christmas cards. Love the new release.

Wonderful card!

Your rainbow colored cards are so fun and this die makes a beautiful border

Wow, both cards are gorgeous! The second one is so stunning with the bright colours, but personally I would be more likely to make the first one - it looks a lot easier to glue together! :)

Beautiful ombre look with the vibrant colors! This is such a pretty, statement-making die.

The watercolors set it all off beautifully.

Beautiful color combination and I love the frame die!

WOW ! I like your colors on each one of the cards. They are so vibrant ! The Botanical frame die is a must have !

Great cards. Your colors really make the Botanica Frame pop. It's a tough choice, but I'm going to pick the first one. Don't you love getting two cards out of one cut?

I like both versions of this card, the positive and negative die cuts! Merry and Bright in every way!

Oh these are beautiful cards! Love the festive colors ♥

I'm all about dies that can be used multiple ways - I honestly don't know which version I like better

Great colors and I like that you were able to make two cards. I like the second one best too.

It's wonderful seeing both the positive and the negative used. Just the thought of all those little pieces having to be glued gives me a headache, but the result is beautiful.

I like the second card also, it is so bright and pretty. Thanks for sharing

I thought that on the second card you had die cut the colored paper and laid it over white. Initially, I liked the first card, but after reading the article, I like the second one. That was a lot of work.
