Blog Blitz: Watercolored Dogwood
by JJ Bolton

Jjbolton_dogwood1

The Blog Blitz is in full swing and I've got a Spring card for you today!  The dogwood tree is the State tree where I live (in Virginia, US) and it's always been one of my favorites!  So I couldn't wait to use the Falling Dogwood Blossoms die.  This is a full A2 size die and it is gorgeous!  As you can see, I used it as a reverse die with watercoloring on the layer below the actual die cut.  To start the card, I die cut one piece and then used the die to emboss another piece of watercolor paper.

I embossed the second piece so that I knew exactly how to paint the blooms so that you could see them through the die cut.  When you paint or color the embossed piece, the embossed lines disappear.  I also painted a couple of blossoms that I popped out of the die cut piece.

The next step was to stamp the sentiment and add a bit of blended blue sky.  Finally, I added the die cut piece over the painted piece with foam tape and added the few painted blossoms on top.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  And of course, do leave a comment before you leave for a chance to win one of these gorgeous Falling Dogwood Blossoms die!

The dogwood is so beautiful. I think I'd also try doing the same thing, but using texture paste with the die cut/stencil for some or all the flowers. Gorgeous card!!! TFS

If this was the only card someone made in their life - it would be a lifetime masterpiece. This is so unique. I'd love to see ideas on how else this die could be used.
