Summer Kimono

Aiko Appleblossom (248C) - wearing a bright summer kimono from the Jubilee 6x6 Set here - is another new stamp from the just-released Poppystamps Asian Collection. It's featured here, with Summer (260B) and Tiled Background (255G).  Emma and Cooper Brethauer are busy processing orders, packing the new stamps and shipping them off as quickly as they can. It's a race between them, the fax and the computer as new orders arrive non-stop.

Be sure your favorite Retailer has placed their order - and ask them to order some of the Jubilee 6x6 Sets, Robins Egg and Kraft Cardstock used here too - and don't forget the beautiful new Thistle Notecards and Envelopes.

Thistle is an amazing color - it can look teal, greenish or aqua - whatever you need it to be.  It's great with leafy summer greens, ocean blues and citrus tones. In the fall, pair Thistle with copper, bronze and pumpkin tones. Rich reds or winter pastels and Thistle will be the perfect combination for your holiday cards.

Thank You from Koji

Meet Koji Kindness (250C)...one of the three new Poppystamp children.  Don't you just love the expression on his face...sweet, slightly mischieveous, an all-around cool kid?

Kraft Cardstock is great for people-stamping - it's a nice, smooth neutral shade that lets the details really stand out.  Koji's kimono is from our Enchanted 6x6 Set, accented with a Summer Sky Memento Marker.

The background is another stamp from our new release - Bamboo Forest (236F).  "Thank You" (267C) is just one of 16 greeting block stamps - there's one for each season, and just about every occasion.  See the Poppystamps Asian Collection here.

The Asian Elements Collection

The 45 stamps Dave designed for the new Poppystamps Asian Elements Collection have just arrived!  View the images here - and prepare for an international journey of design excellence. It's not just another group of ethnic stamps - it's Dave's tribute to Asian culture and design.

Here's a card with the Open Winged Crane (246D) and Celebrate (264B) on a backdrop of the Ringed Background (254G).  The unique crane has already become a favorite of those who've seen the designs online.  The crane was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black and embossed with detail clear powder on Red Pepper Cardstock.  The background and "celebrate" character were stamped on Kraft Cardstock with Onyx Black.  The pieces were trimmed and edged with Graphite Black, then layered onto a 5.5" square card of Kraft Cardstock.  Black mini-brads add the finishing touch.

The very traditional background here acquires a contemporary look when it's featured on a simple design like this card.  The edges of the calligraphy stamps have the rough, hand-carved appeal of an artisan's woodblock prints.

I look forward to sharing an array of card designs with you.  Some will include basic origami elements, created from instructions found online or in origami books.  (They are so much better than I am in illustrating and describing these techniques!)  Other cards will include paper we've handstamped with layers of inks, both matte and metallic.

Be sure your favorite Retailer has ordered the entire Poppystamps Asian Elements Collection so you'll be ready to create along with us.  I was at Impress today, and everyone there is excited about receiving their first order.  Once you see the stamps, you'll know why!

New Asian Stamps on their Way!

Big news! Poppystamps is getting ready for our biggest release yet! 47 brand new rubber stamp images!

Poppystamps began as a summer project for our kids Emma and Cooper - we have been running Memory Box Stamps and Papers for 15 years and wanted our kids to get some "real world experience" with business, so we created a line of stamps for them to sell when they were out of school. Little did we know what a hit it would be - and they became very busy learning how to invoice, pack, ship UPS and work on the website. We let things slow down once they went back to school, but now that summer vacation is getting close, we thought it would be fun to get things going again. So, all you poppystamps fans, we are pleased to announce a big launch of rubber stamps - next week!

We're still getting things prepped and ready - so that the site will show all of the fun new things we have to offer. We'll be putting all of the new stamps up soon!

In the meantime, we have some friends promoting the stamps early for us! Stephanie Nishikawa, owner of the Paper Garden in Sacramento, CA made a bunch of samples, including the one above. She will be stocking all of the images at her store once they arrive. We also have one of our Memory Box design team members, Jean Okimoto, teaching classes at Impress Rubber Stamps in Seattle, WA - and she's already pre-sold a ton of the new images by showing them in her most recent classes. If you live near one of these locations, you can look forward to seeing the new stamps in person within the next couple of weeks!
