Wishing you....

....a magical New Year!!

Do you need a super quick card to wish someone a Happy New Year? Fiona Faerie (219C) does this perfectly. She looks so cute in pink and brown, doesn't she?

Fiona Faerie 219C

The sentiment is computer generated on white card stock. Fiona was stamped in black ink above the sentiment & colored with Copics. Part of her dress was paper pieced with paper from the Snow & Cedar pack. The star on her wand is covered with Platinum Stickles. Add some Snow & Cedar paper to a Memory Box Cherry Blossom note card, and you’re done….super easy!

Wishing everyone a safe & Happy New Year!!

Happy Day!

A happy day indeed! This “scene” could be used for numerous occasions. I’m sure many children dream of a receiving a puppy as a gift & this reminds me of the joy of a child after receiving such a gift. That was the inspiration for my card.

This card begins by cutting a Russian Sage note card to 4 ¼” square.  The wavy snow was created using an EK success Wavy Border punch. The images used in this card are, Fred Frolic (235C) & Running Pup (232B). For those of you that may be new to paper piecing, I have included some photos to help demonstrate. The images were stamped onto the polka dot Snow & Cedar piece using black ink (shown below). These will be covered later with your “paper pieces”.

Stamp the images again onto white card stock, color as desired & cut out. I also stamped Fred Frolic onto a scrap of Snow & Cedar paper to “piece” some of his clothing onto my colored white piece. Adhere these pieces onto your “outline” images, as shown below.

The card is finished with stamping a sentiment onto the snow piece, adding some ribbon & framing with some mocha card stock & applying this piece to the Russian Sage note card. A supply list is provided below.

Angel Thank-You

With the holidays in full swing, many of us will be in need of some thank-you cards to send out. Andrew Angel (213C) warms the heart & works very well for giving thanks.

This card begins with a Lavender (Memory Box) note card with a portion of the bottom half covered with a piece of Poppy Stamps Snow & Cedar paper. A strip of lavender grosgrain ribbon was added at the top of this piece. Andrew Angel was stamped onto white card-stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Copics, and ultra fine glitter was added to his wings. The oval shape was punched out using a Marvy Super Jumbo Oval (blue) punch. This piece was framed with another shade of Snow & Cedar paper that was punched out using the Marvy Mega Scalloped Oval punch (pink). You can add a computer generated sentiment or maybe you have a sentiment in your collection to complete this card. Buttons were added for embellishment.

Reindeer Rex Greetings

Reindeer Rex (231C) is so cute with his scarf & antlers….perfect for sending a warm, holiday greeting. An easy layout was created by using cuts of the Snow & Cedar paper & piecing them together to create a fun polka-dot block background. Play around with different color combinations & see what you come up with. The measurements are supplied for you below if you wish to recreate this card.

The piece pictured above was attached to a Memory Box Crimson note card.  Reindeer Rex was stamped onto a piece of Memory Box Eggshell cardstock & again on white cardstock. Trim the white piece out, shade if desired, and piece onto the image stamped on the Eggshell piece. The scarf was stamped onto a piece of scrap Snow & Cedar paper, trimmed & pieced onto Rex.

The Eggshell piece was finished off by sponging the edges with a brown ink & stamping with a sentiment. Adhesive ribbon & Memory Box Christmas jewel stickers were added for embellishment. This piece was framed with a slightly larger piece of Mocha card stock and attached to the main card with foam adhesive. Supply list is below.

Think Snow

Fred Frost (221C) is adorable all bundled up in polka dot attire created with the Snow & Cedar paper pack. There is a lot of paper piecing involved in this card, so if that is not your thing, you could create similar results with your favorite coloring method.

Fred Frost 221C

The note card is Memory Box in Crimson. All polka dot paper is from the Poppy Stamps Snow & Cedar paper pack. The main image is framed in Sapphire card stock by Memory Box. Fred Frost’s face is colored with a Baby Skin Pink Copic marker & big rosy cheeks were added using a Blush Copic marker.

The card was finished off by shading the top of the snow with a powder blue pencil & adding a line of ultra fine glitter to top of the snow & the pile of snowballs.

If you wanted to add a sentiment, it would pair nicely with a snow or winter related sentiment

Santa Paws

Big Pooch (225C) has instant holiday cheer by adding a big & floppy Santa hat embellishment. This would be a fun holiday card to give to a fellow animal lover.

Big Pooch 225C

The head on Big Pooch has been trimmed out from a duplicate stamped image & popped out with foam adhesive. The base of the Santa hat was fitted around this piece. A cut strip of Memory Box Sky Blue jewels were added to make the collar fancy.

I think some of the other Poppy pets will be getting a Santa makeover soon too! J Supplies used are listed below.

Warm Wishes Rex

Make a sweet holiday or winter card starring Juggling Rex (234C).  Poppy Stamps Snow & Cedar polka dot paper was used, as well as Memory Box Soiree Frost card stock & Warmest Wishes sentiment. A Memory Box Robin’s Egg note card was used for the base card. Additional design elements were added with a Marvy snowflake punch, a button, and some mini white pom-poms.

Juggling Rex was stamped onto a piece of Snow & Cedar paper & punched out with a 2” circle punch. Stamp Rex again onto white card stock, trim & piece onto the polka dot circle cut out. The Frost Soiree card stock was punched with a Marvy Mega Scallop Circlepunch & embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. Using a foam adhesive, apply to the main card & apply pom-poms. The snowflake was punched out of the Frost Soiree card stock as well.

A warm wish sure to bring a smile!

Daniel Snowglobe

This card could easily be modified with any of the Poppy Stamps images. A quick snowglobe made with a circle & a rectangle with the top corners rounded. The base card is a Memory Box Mocha note card cut to 4 ¼” square. The polka dot layers are from the Poppy Stamps Snow & Cedar paper pack.

Daniel Digger 230C

Daniel Digger (230C) was inked omitting his shovel.

He is colored in Copics & a Christmas Diamond Jewel was placed in his mitten for a snowball. Chunky sparkle glitter was placed under Daniel’s boots for some snow. Once complete, the snowglobe was attached to the base card using a foam adhesive.

Another idea would be to cover the entire circle with glitter to add more sparkle. Many different sentiments could be added as well for a holiday or winter card.

Festive Trees

Here is a simple festive holiday card you can make using a few images from the Forest Fun Clear set & some basic supplies. This card was made using the two triangular images & the small mushroom image.

Forest Fun CL145

Start by stamping the three trees on white card-stock using black ink. Ink the base of the small mushroom stamp to make the tree trunk. Don’t worry if you get some of the top of the mushroom on your tree, this will be covered up later. Another way to do this would be to mask off the pieces of the mushroom you did not want to be inked. Color in only the tree trunks on this piece. Light blue shading has been added under the trees using a Powder Blue Prismacolor pencil & Star Dust Stickles were added on top of that for some sparkle. Stamp the three triangular trees onto another piece of card-stock & color as desired. Cut these pieces out & piece them over the trees on your first piece. Trim with Memory Box Dill cardstock & mount onto Memory Box Cranberry note card. Embellish with Christmas Jewels & a Sparkling Snowflake Jewel for a star on the top of the tree.

There are many variations you could create to give this card your own special touch!

Fun in the Snow

A card that features sledding over snowy terrain is sure to be a hit as winter approaches. This easy card is fun to make and just as fun to receive. The card is a very basic pattern - and the idea can be changed in many ways. The card opens to reveal layers - each layer is slightly shorter than the next, so that a scene "pops out" when you open the card up. You can have 2 layers, you can have 10 layers - the only rule of thumb is that each layer has to be a little bit shorter than the next.

For this card, we used 2 layers - and it was more than enough! Cut 3 pieces of paper according to the measurements below (you'll need 2 pieces of 8 1/2 x 11 paper to do this project). We used Robins Egg cardstock from Memory Box for the sky, and we stamped a Snow Background stamp on the largest piece first to make a snowy sky.

Once the pieces of paper are cut out, score them in the middle and also 3/8" from each edge.

Next, stamp the Sledding image 233D on the shortest piece. Cut a curvy line across the piece and around the stamped image. Cut a curvy line (these will be hills) across the medium piece as well. Finally, apply adhesive along the edges of the short and medium piece and stack the pieces together, so that the layers pop out!

Color in the little sledders with copic markers - and add some Polar White Flower soft under the sled and across the hill. It really looks like snow flying up under the sled!
